The statue of Saint Eufemia (Sant'Eufemia), sculptured by Renaissance master Andrea Mantegna, is a priceless heritage of Irsina and can be found in the Cathedral. It is also an extremely rare example, to this date, of the focus and abilities of Mantegna in the field of sculpture.
The complex facial expressions of pride and sweetness give lifelike qualities to the stone of Nanto from which the statue was created. The sculpture represents the perfect synthesis between the contemporary Renaissance style and the composed Classic style that coexisted in the art of Mantegna.
